About the Program.
The UWIN program provides mentorship and internship opportunities during the school year where participants will gain professional development and technical skills needed to succeed in the investment management industry. Each participant is matched with a Loomis Sayles mentor, and select students participate in the internship program. The program targets students in their sophomore and junior years but welcomes students in any undergraduate year. We seek students studying at colleges and universities in the United States with an interest in investing, business, finance, accounting, data science, mathematics or economics.
Prerequisites.
The UWIN program seeks undergraduate students who are underrepresented in the investment management industry.

Mentorship Program Details:
The UWIN mentorship program matches selected undergraduate students with a Loomis Sayles mentor to help connect the educational experience to a potential career in investment management by sharing knowledge, experience and career advice. The mentorship program requires a school year commitment of 1-2 hours per month to connect with the mentor, in addition to participation in professional development, networking and educational workshops.

Mentorship Program Prerequisites:
- Requires a school year commitment of 1-2 hours per month to connect with the mentor. It also includes two full-day workshops and four professional development and educational training sessions
- Working toward a bachelorās degree with coursework in finance, business, economics or mathematics, including completion of one accounting course
- Interest in financial markets
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attendance at a university or college in the United States
- Targets undergraduate students in their sophomore and junior years but welcomes students in any undergraduate year
Internship Program
Internship Program Details:
The UWIN internship program is rotational during the school year. Undergraduate students experience two investment or client-facing functions (one per semester) in areas such as fixed income research, portfolio management, equity research, product marketing and client relationship management. The internship program requires a school year commitment of between 12-16 hours per week over two 10-week rotations. Each intern will also be matched with a Loomis Sayles mentor as part of the mentorship program described above.
Sample projects include:
- Performing fundamental industry, market, company and valuation analysis
- Building and updating financial statement models and comparable company spreadsheets
- Summarizing valuation metrics across industries and holdings of investment teams
- Generating portfolio optimization recommendations based on in-house fundamental analystsā and macro team forecasts
- Performing peer performance analysis
- Monitoring changes to exchange rate, global bond yields, inflation and growth forecasts
Internship Program Prerequisites:
- Participation in the mentorship program
- Requires 12-16 hours per week over two 10-week rotations, one in each semester (or just one semester if studying abroad)
- Working toward a bachelorās degree with coursework in business, finance, accounting, data science, mathematics, investing, or economics
- Completion of one accounting or finance course
- Interest in financial markets and investing
- Basic understanding of financial statements and Microsoft Excel
- Quick learner with attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Individuals on student visas are not eligible for this internship
History of the Program
The UWIN program was founded in 2015, after a review of job applicants revealed that female candidates for junior level research positions at Loomis Sayles comprised only 18% of the applications received in 2014 and 2015.
Over the last ten years, 300 students have participated in the program. UWIN has partnered with 29 colleges and universities across 11 states. Notably, 16 participants have been hired into full-time positions at Loomis Sayles, 14 of whom are still currently employed. Additionally, a total of 17 students have been successfully hired for our summer internship program.

Gearing Up Awards 2025
Loomis Sayles received the Progressive Partner Award from the Center for Women and Business at Bentley University, in recognition of the firmās commitment to advancing women+ in the workplace.
2025: On June 11, 2025, Loomis Sayles received the Progressive Partner Award from the Center for Women and Business at Bentley University during its Gearing Up Conference. The Gearing Up Awardees were selected by a committee of volunteers from the CWB Board of Advisors and Bentley faculty and staff which considers firmsā leadership, impact, development of others and amplification of voices. Loomis Sayles did not pay a fee to be considered.

Associate Development Program
Select participants of Loomis Saylesā UWIN and USID programs are invited to apply for the Associate Development Program (ADP) upon graduation. The ADP is a two year rotation program in which participants are hired by the firm to complete a series of multi-month engagements within a variety of departments across the firm. Participants work with mentors and receive additional training and development opportunities.
