Health Smartz
To address the growing epidemic of childhood obesity, Loomis Sayles banded together with Boston
Ballet, Boston Medical Center and Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston to create Health Smartz, a groundbreaking
alliance dedicated to raising awareness of the critical health and nutritional issues affecting Boston’s
children. Health Smartz' first advocacy and fundraising event, Hold The Fries!, raised nearly $150,000
for health and nutrition initiatives. Hosted by Myra H. Kraft, Hold The Fries! featured an informative
panel discussion from the perspectives of four health, fitness and nutrition experts from the Boston
area.

Saint Patrick School
Loomis Sayles has been teaming with Saint Patrick School since 2004 through the Inner-City
Scholarship Fund's "Adopt-a-School" program. In addition to a $25,000 donation of
computers and equipment to the school's computer lab, we have initiated a number of
recurring programs, including a book club, weekly tutoring and classroom assistance by
firm volunteers, school supply drives, and an annual field trip to the Jimmy Fund Scooper
Bowl. Loomis Sayles also partnered with Suffolk Construction to install an Astroturf field at
the school, and worked alongside Channel 5's local "extreme makeover" team to paint and
restore the school interior.
We hosted a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of Saint Patrick's
Peace Park at the Roxbury school in 2006. Peter Lynch, president of the Inner-City
Scholarship Fund, and Mayor Thomas Menino attended the ceremony. As part of its
ongoing partnership with Saint Patrick's, Loomis Sayles donated the playground.

Boston Ballet Taking Steps
For the fifth year, Loomis Sayles is proud to be the lead sponsor of Boston Ballet's Taking Steps program for
inner-city girls aged 11-14. Boston Ballet Taking Steps offers after-school instruction in dance, drama, music and visual arts.
Participants gain greater physical awareness, learn methods to communicate with self-confidence and presence, and
discover that a healthy body and healthy mind go hand in hand.
We also underwrite Boston Ballet's two-week summer camp dedicated to training young women from disadvantaged
communities in dance and artistic expression. Loomis Sayles was also the featured sponsor at 2007's annual Boston
Ballet Gala.

Community Service Day with City Year
Every year, Loomis Sayles teams with City Year to complete a community service project at a local school, park, playground or
other site in need of renovation. This year, over 40 employees shuttled to Saint Patrick School in Roxbury, MA to complete a variety
of beautification projects, including weeding and nurturing the garden, painting the corridors and gymnasium, painting murals and
spreading new mulch on the playground.
