Loomis Sayles’ diversity committee transforms the company’s commitment into action. The group is
comprised of representatives from the major departments and includes two Board members. Examples of the firm's commitment
to diversity include:
Long-range planning. Initiation of a multi-year diversity plan with the assistance of a leading consulting firm.
Talent development. The firm is a member of
The Partnership, Inc., which provides leadership training,
consulting services and networking for professional persons of color in Boston.
Work-life balance. Loomis Sayles has many programs and benefits designed to help our employees maintain a
positive balance between their professional and personal lives. Examples are flexible work arrangements, childcare
resources, elder care benefits and on-site work-life seminars.
Training. The firm provides harassment and diversity awareness training to management and all new hires.
Supplier diversity. We are members of the Supplier Diversity associations, and track our vendors to identify Minority Business Enterprises and WBE.
Charitable partnerships. Our Charitable Giving Committee supports programs in education, healthcare, social services and the arts,
working with economically disadvantaged children and their families located in the urban areas in which we work and live. Our community partners
represent and serve predominantly minority populations. The Committee will spend nearly $1 million on programs in 2009.
Internships. Loomis Sayles sponsors educational programs which serve minority populations. We are the
primary sponsor of the following local initiatives:
Summer Search program selects promising high school
sophomores and provides them with unique educational opportunities. We have hired Summer Search college interns since 2007.
Christo Rey Boston provides a college prep education to economically-disadvantaged youth from
neighborhoods across Boston. Loomis Sayles hosts a student intern for the school year.
The Fenway High School Ventures program introduces 11th and 12th graders to business concepts and settings through both in-classroom instruction and offsite field research. Loomis Sayles participates in the cumulating six week, full time internship program for students in their senior year.
Loomis Sayles supports the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy Green & Grow internship program, which provides participants with the opportunity to work in an urban green space during the summer in the areas of horticulture, park maintenance and event support.
Career training. As part of Project Hope's collaborative Community Partners in Health Professions program, Loomis Sayles employees conduct job training support for women who are new to or rejoining the work force.
